The film, which got its world premiere on October 2 at the New York Film Festival in New York City, features newly restored concert footage from spring 1980 Dylan shows in Buffalo, New York and Toronto, interspersed by sermons penned by Belgian writer Luc Sante and recited by actor Michael Shannon.
The screenings will take place a day before the release of the new deluxe Dylan box set Trouble No More — The Bootleg Series Vol. 13/1979-1981, a nine-disc package that includes a DVD featuring the Trouble No More documentary. The collection also features eight CDs gathering together a plethora of rare and unreleased live and studio recordings from the period in which Dylan released three albums directly influenced by personal and religious transformation: 1979’s Slow Train Coming, 1980’s Saved and 1981’s Shot of Love. The box set also includes a hardcover book featuring an introduction by Dylan scholar Ben Rollins and specially curated liner notes.
Two-CD and four-LP vinyl versions of Trouble No More comprised of the first two discs from the deluxe collection also will be available.
