Concord GroupFebruary 25 marks what would have been George Harrison‘s 75th birthday, and in commemoration of the milestone, special reissues of the all-star 2002 tribute concert honoring George held at London’s Royal Albert Hall will be released Friday, February 23.

Among the reissues is an expansive limited-edition box set featuring the concert’s audio on four 180-gram vinyl LPs and two CDs; two-disc DVD and Blu-ray sets boasting video of the event, plus extra content; a hardbound 60-page book; and a cutting from the hand-painted tapestry used as a backdrop at the show.

Concert for George took place on November 29, 2002, exactly one year after Harrison’s death, and included performances by Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jeff Lynne, Billy Preston, and Procol Harum‘s Gary Brooker, as well as Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Clapton served as musical director of the show, which featured renditions of many of the classic tunes Harrison wrote for the Beatles and as a solo artist.

Among the many highlights of the show was a version of “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” featuring McCartney and Clapton, plus Starr on the drums.

Only 1,000 copies of the deluxe Concert for George box set will be available, available exclusively at ConcertforGeorge.com. The DVDs and Blu-rays feature video of the entire concert on the first disc and a theatrical version on the second disc, which also contains interviews with the performers, behind-the-scenes clips, and rehearsal footage.

The reissue also will be sold as a two-CD/two-DVD and a two-CD/two-Blu-ray set, a four-LP vinyl package and a two-CD collection.
