BMGA deluxe two-CD/DVD set documenting a special Kenny Loggins concert — featuring the singer/songwriter performing solo and with a variety of collaborators — has just been released. Kenny Loggins & Friends: Live on Soundstage was recorded in 2016 in Chicago.
The concert features Kenny reuniting with his old Loggins and Messina partner Jim Messina, as well as teaming up with Michael McDonald, superproducer David Foster, Loggins’ country-rock side project Blue Sky Riders and soul/jazz bassist Thundercat.
The show’s many highlights include Loggins and Messina performing their hits “Danny’s Song,” “House on Pooh Corner” and “Your Mama Don’t Dance”; Michael McDonald joining Kenny for renditions of Kenny’s smash “This Is It” and The Doobie Brothers‘ “What a Fool Believes”; and Kenny collaborating with Foster on a medley of tunes they co-wrote, including “Forever” and “Heart to Heart.”
In addition, the event features Kenny singing solo hits like “Footloose,” “I’m Alright” and “Danger Zone.” The concert will also air as an episode of the PBS series Soundstage in 2019.
In other news, Kenny kicked off a three-date Las Vegas engagement on Wednesday, September 5, at the Encore Theater at Wynn resort casino, and will also perform at the venue this Friday and Saturday. At the concerts, Kenny and his backing group perform some of his many hits from movie soundtracks, some new music, and more.
