Hulton Archive/Getty ImagesGeorge Michael is no longer with us, but his Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley is here to tell the pop duo’s story.
Andrew has announced plans to publish a memoir, titled Wham!, George & Me, this fall. On Instagram, the singer wrote, “Dear All, I’m very pleased to share with you, the news that my memoir Wham!, George & Me will be published in the U.K. this October. In it I cover my school years with George, through the halcyon days of WHAM!, to our Final concert at Wembley.”
He adds, “It’s a story of a dream and the scrapes, laughs and lives of two best friends, the good and the glorious. I hope you’ll get as much pleasure from it as I have.”
The book is available for pre-order now, with a publication date of October 8.
According to the book’s description, Wham!, George & Me will cover the duo’s first meeting at school in 1975, the formation of Wham! in 1981, and their rise to fame, through their iconic final concert in June of 1986, attended by 72,000 fans.
“They made and broke iconic records, they were treated like gods, but they stayed true to their friendship and ultimately to themselves,” says the description.
George Michael, who went on to a world-conquering solo career after Wham! split, died on Christmas Day 2016.
