The two Beatles reunited in Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium Saturday night. Variety reports that after McCartney finished the first song of the encore — “Birthday” — he announced a surprise.  Onto the stage walked Ringo, a guy who himself just celebrated his 79th birthday on July 7.

Ringo joined Sir Paul and his band for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” Roadies even rolled Ringo’s signature Ludwig drum kit on stage for him to play.

Starr wasn’t the only surprise: Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh, who’s also Ringo’s brother-in-law, appeared onstage as well. He took part in a guitar medley that typically ends the show, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Saturday night’s concert wrapped the U.S. leg of McCartney’s 2019 Freshen Up Tour. It also added another chapter to Dodger Stadium’s place in Beatles history — the Fab Four’s penultimate concert took place there 53 years ago this August.
