This marked the first time Lennox and Stewart had performed in public together in more than five years, and  Dave told ABC Audio on the event’s red carpet that the show may inspire Annie and him to take part in more reunion activities.

“[Y]ou can never tell,” Stewart noted. “I think, when we were in rehearsals and played, we realized, ‘Oh, everybody seems to really like this.’ And I think tonight that’ll be reinforced and we might [decide], ‘Oh, okay, this could be interesting for the future.'”

Dave also revealed that he and Annie had gotten together about two years ago privately to play together and make some “little films,” while noting that that had been “just for our own fun.”

As for how he felt getting to perform live again with Lennox, Stewart told ABC Audio that it’s always a special treat to get to experience an iconic musician’s talents.

“When Stevie Wonder puts his fingers on the keys, you go, ‘Oh, it’s Stevie Wonder,'” he explained. “It’s only certain people have that sound to their voice or their playing or whatever, where you just know it’s them instantly.”

He added with a laugh, “But obviously I’ve heard [Annie’s voice] a lot more than other people.”

At the Rainforest Fund benefit, Eurythmics played “Would I Lie to You,” “Here Comes the Rain Again” and “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This).” You can check out fan-shot video of the performance on YouTube.
