AC/DC's 'Back in Black' certified 25-times platinum

Leidseplein Presse B.V.AC/DC‘s landmark album Back in Black has been certified a historic 25-times platinum.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America, or RIAA, Back in Black officially hit the milestone, which is rewarded for 25 million in certified units, on December 6.

Back in Black is now officially the fourth best-selling album in the U.S. of all time. The 1976 Eagles Greatest Hits compilation is number one with 38 million certified units, followed by Michael Jackson‘s Thriller with 33 million, and The Eagles’ Hotel California with 26 million.

Released July 1980, Back in Black was AC/DC’s first album with vocalist Brian Johnson, who joined the band after the death of frontman Bon Scott earlier that year. It spawned such AC/DC classics as “Back in Black,” “Hells Bells” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.”
